This department is served in our Law Firm by Mr. Armando Mérida and Mr. Aldo Gómez who have a broad experience in these two fields, being currently the main and most important department in our Law Firm. We normally prepare Guatemalan corporations for national and foreign companies, as well as anything involving the management of a corporation in Guatemala, in other words everything related to both shareholders' and board of directors meetings. Mr. Mérida worked several years with the legal department of Bank of America in Guatemala, and this experience has enable him to give advise to different Banks in matters related with corporate and commercial questions. The aforementioned also includes all kinds of consultations via telephone, e-mail or fax. regarding these two important fields of law, as well as Distribution Agreements and all kinds of inquiries in connection with different commercial contracts, whether national or international. This field is in charge of Mr. Armando Mérida and Mrs. Ana Molina, being assisted in the same by Ms. Marlen Gómez. During the last years this field of our work, has been growing steadily, and we are now able to provide our clients with a reliable and safe service specially now that our Registry of Industrial Property is being updated, and the work is done much faster than before. Each year we attend the International Trademark Association
(INTA), which is held in a different city of the United States of
America . This enables us to keep a permanent contact with our
clients and has helped us to develop a new clientele in this field. trademarks@meridayasociados.com.gt Litigation Litigation is performed mainly in our office by Mr. Alvaro Lorenzo and Mr. Aldo Gómez. We conduct mainly civil litigation. We do not accept criminal cases, but we can provide our clients with good lawyers in this field, in case that the need arises. If we recommend a colleague of ours, we maintain the responsibility in front of our client for the performance of the lawyer recommended by us. This is a very important part of our corporate and commercial law areas, due to the fact that we are able to help our international clients with all the services they need to have all their personal legal papers in order. This means getting for them the necessary authorizations to live and work in Guatemala . All necessary papers are filed by our office, and practically the foreign personnel of our clients only have to sign such documents that are going to be filed with the different offices of the Guatemalan government.
